About

Hi. Thanks for visiting my photoblog. My name is DeWaun and I’ll be your photographer while you’re here.

I am a Graphic Designer by day with nearly 20 years of experience in several areas like commercial printing, print brokering, newspaper and magazine advertising, packaging prepress, layout and design, and client and technical consultation.

I am also a hungry freelance photographer living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I enjoy exploring the diversities of Texas’ terrain and finding the never ending treasures that my home state has to offer.

WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHER ARE YOU? (Well, hopefully a good one.) But I can only reply that my goal is to explore many areas of photography.

As an ART PHOTOGRAPHER, I place supreme value on angle, perspective and depth of field using the warming magic of natural light.

As a COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHER, I strive to find optimal lighting and exposure to showcase and reveal a product’s inherent appeal and value.

As a PORTRAIT and EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER preserving special moments and conveying quintessential feelings is of paramount importance.

I also love to get lost in the world of macro photography, low-light photography, nature and wildlife photography. I feel that my creativity is increased (like a mental cleansing) when I can draw from so many streams of creative input.

PHILOSOPHY: Although brand name seems to matter little these days, some folks will appreciate that I trust my photography to Nikon digital SLRs (and a very trusty Fujifilm Finepix s5200). I finally made the leap to digital photography in 2005 after years of only knowing Polaroid, 110 and 35mm (film).  Although, post-processing is not as fun as being out with my camera, I enjoy creating artistic photography using all the tools at my disposal. My processing tastes have evolved over the years. I now prefer to stay away from the wild and trendy special effects and prefer to concentrate on better exposure and composition straight from the camera, using software to do basic “digital” darkroom work. I think you’ll see that in my photography.
